An order of protection was issued after an Iowa man was jailed following a fight with his brother over peanut butter sandwiches.

Jail records show Jerome Davis, 51, was booked into the Polk County Jail at 3:46 p.m. Friday afternoon, January 3, 2014 and that he was still jailed Sunday morning, January 5.

Davis’ arrest reportedly followed a fight with his brother, with whom he lives in Des Moines.

The Des Moines Register reported the brother got angry after Davis made and ate six peanut butter sandwiches within about an hour.  What started as a yelling argument reportedly escalated when Davis allegedly produced a folding knife and threatened to use it to cut his brother.

Davis was arrested on an accusation of assault domestic abuse with a weapon.  Online court records show a “no contact order” of protection was issued for an indefinite period of time until the case is resolved.

Court records show Davis was held in the Polk County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bond.
