About 1,800 pre-lit Christmas trees sold at Menards stores are recalled because they can overheat and cause electric shock or fire.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says Menards has received two reports of the light strings on the recalled trees overheating, melting or smoking.

No injuries have been reported.

The recall involves the Twinkling Pine pre-lit artificial Christmas trees sold under the Enchanted Forest brand.  The trees stand 7 ½ feet tall and have 400 champagne-colored LED lights on them.

The recalled model number 287-1261 and UPC code 741895425478 are printed on the box and on a red tag attached to one of the tree branches.

The trees were sold exclusively at Menards stores and online at menards.com between September and November 2013 for about $300.

If you have a tree that is part of this recall, you should immediately unplug and stop using the tree.  You can return it to Menards for a refund.
