The Rock Island County Board will vote on Tuesday, December 17th, 2013 to borrow more money in order to fund the Hope Creek Care Center.

Health and Human Services Chair Steve Meersman said Monday that the county will vote to borrow up to $1.5 million for the facility. In other county news, board members will vote to borrow up to $5 million to fund the county's general fund too.

Rock Island County has already borrowed $750,000 toward the home. Board members say they are missing out on $9,000 a day that the state is supposed to pay them.

There are at least six companies interested in learning more about the Hope Creek Care Center. Meersman will present that information to the board Tuesday, but they will not vote on it. Tuesday's meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the county offices in Rock Island.

Rock Island County residents will likely vote on a property tax increase for Hope Creek in November of 2014. Board members wanted some kind of referendum on the March ballot, but that is not likely to happen.
