Washington, Illinois was a town in desperate need of many necessities after a devastating tornado ripped through the town. As the holidays approach, the Dear Santa Program made a point to spread some cheer.

According to a report by KCRG, the program accepted donations like toys, clothing, and other gifts to distribute to the people of Washington.

“We’re going to take Santa, the reindeer, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and the whole bit, and fly down there with the trailer and try to make everyone’s Christmas a little merrier,” said the program’s founder Lori Philipp.

The Dear Santa Program has been delivering gifts to families in need for over a decade. Each year they serve more than 130 families.

According to the program’s website, children will have the opportunity to visit Santa and sit in his sleigh during his visit to Washington. Photos will also be taken of the families in the area as they visit with Santa.
