Genesis Health System dedicated a gazebo on site to a local former Congressman.

On Sunday, December 8, 2013 former Congressman Lane Evans from Rock Island, Illinois was honored at the ceremony at Genesis HealthPlex in Moline.

Organizers said they wanted to honor Evans’ life of service by dedicating a community gathering place to him.

“Congressman Evans is one of the greatest supporters of the Quad Cities who have ever served in Congress from this area,” said Ken Croken, Vice President of Corporate Communications with Genesis Health System. “He officially was elected only by Illinois voters, but his presence in Congress for 24 years benefitted the entire region.”

Evans served the Illinois 17th District from 1983-2007. He announced in 2006 he would have to discontinue his service because of his health.
