(CNN) – Amanda Bynes has yet to return to her highly read Twitter account, but she is back in the public eye.

On Thursday, the 27-year-old was seen stepping out for a walk with her parents and the family pets. It was the first time she’s been seen publicly since she was placed under an involuntary psychiatric in July.

Bynes’ mother’s lawyer told CNN that same day that the troubled actress had been released from an inpatient treatment center into the custody of her parents, and is now continuing her progress from home.

“She is excited to be home with her family during the holidays and especially happy to re-establish a loving relationship with her parents,” the attorney, Tamar Arminak, said. “Although she is focusing on her health at the moment, she is looking forward to attending school at some point and perhaps even studying fashion design.”

According to TMZ, school is a top priority for the former Nickelodeon star. Sources have hinted that she’s been eyeing classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising’s Orange County campus.
