To ensure the safety of Quad City seniors, a safety expo was held in Rock Island.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Homebound Healthcare held a free Community Safety Expo.

The event featured speakers and representatives from the Rock Island Fire and Police Departments, Liv Well Seniors, Elder Law Attorney, and more. Attendees were offered flu shots, balance tests by physical and occupational therapists, and safety checks on their walkers and wheelchairs.

Marketing Specialist for Homebound Healthcare, Laura Depauw said at least once per year they try to have an event like this.

"Our main goal is to protect our seniors and to have them be able to live as independently as possible for as long as they can and to just have them be safe and comfortable in their own homes."

The event held seminars on aging, fall prevention, avoiding scams, and other helpful topics.
