On Thursday, November 21, 2013, Washington, Illinois officials released more information about how they will move forward with the clean up process.
According to a press release, FEMA started damage assessments on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Tazewell County EMA and IEMA have completed their assessments. All assessments are part of the process to receive federal aid.
Because of debris removal, residents were not able to access their property on Thursday. Residents in affected areas, including Georgetown Common, will be able to get to their homes on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
There will be no access on Monday, November 25, 2013 and Tuesday, November 26, 2013 because of debris removal.
Residents returning to Georgetown Common will need to be escorted to their properties for 30 minutes at a time and different placards will be placed on buildings to determine how safe they are.
The curfew for Washington will be lifted on Friday, November 22, 2013. However, no one will be able to get near the damaged areas after 5:00 p.m.
Starting Saturday, November 24, 2013, volunteers will be allowed to help. According to a press release, AmeriCorps is handling volunteer coordination.
