Upset neighbors speak out about Menards development

Neighbors spoke out at the Davenport City Council meeting about a development that they say is ruining their neighborhoods and impacting their health.

Neighbors spoke out at the November 19, 2013 Davenport City Council meeting about a development that they say is ruining their neighborhoods and impacting their health.

Neighbors living off North Main Street in Davenport are in the back yard of the new Menards store being built off of North Brady Street.

Since construction, neighbors say they have had nothing but problems including dust, traffic and noise.  Neighbors say workers haven't been obeying the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. time ordinance, and have instead begun work as early as 4 a.m.

Neighbors say they're fed up.

"I would just like them to have more of an awareness that it's not just a construction zone, that we're a community.  We're families that work everyday, pay tax dollars," said neighbor Kayla Grass.

Neighbors have complained several times, but this time the council agreed that something needs to be done.  There's talk of city officials holding a meeting with the Menards developers.
