Scott County election officials will re-count ballots cast in the November 5 election after only one vote separated the top two candidates vying to be mayor of Blue Grass, Iowa.
Unofficial election results showed Incumbent Mayor Brinson Kinzer defeated his opponent, Timothy Brandenburg, by a single vote.
Election officials said Kinzer received 169 votes, Brandenburg received 168 votes and there were 16 “scattered write-in votes.”
Brandenburg requested the recount according to Scott County Elections Commissioner Roxanna Moritz. The recount was authorized by the Scott County Board of Supervisors on November 19.
The recount was scheduled to November 20 at 11 a.m. in the board room at the Scott County Administrative Center. The recount is open to the public.
