Police said they found .45-caliber shell casings in the street while investigating a report of shots fired.

Police were called to the 1000 block of 14-1/2 Street in Rock Island, Illinois just before noon Friday, November 15, 2013.  Neighbors reported hearing the sound of shots fired in the area.  No shooting victim was reported.

Police did not immediately find any property damage or a shooting victim in connection with the investigation. Rock Island Police Chief Jeffrey R. VenHuizen later said officers found that a 33-year-old man had been shot and was taken to an area hospital via ambulance.  His injuries were reportedly non-life-threatening.

The street was blocked off for a short time while police canvassed the area for evidence.

There was no information immediately released about a possible suspect.
