It is estimated that over 1,000 people were killed after Typhoon Haiyan slammed into the Philippines on Friday, November 8, 2013 and hundreds of thousands are left without homes. There are many ways you can help.
According to ABC News, the U.S. and other governments are coordinating relief efforts to help victims, and other charities are working to help as well.
The United Nations World Food Programme said it has distributed $2 million for disaster response and will be surveying damage in select provinces. The program said they will send over “40 tons of high energy biscuits and work with the Filipino government to help with logistics and emergency communications systems.”

UNICEF said staff in the Philippines is being called to help relief efforts and they are sending 60 tons of emergency supplies from Copenhagen. On Tuesday, November 12 water purification systems, storage equipment and sanitation supplies will be airlifted to disaster sites.
The American Red Cross has sent staff to help make assessments in the Philippines and has activated its family tracing services.
