Local high schools compete to collect food during the fall and one student set up shop to help the cause.

On Sunday, November 3, 2013 United Township High School sophomore Cami Beard planted herself at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Island to help collect cans for the 28th Annual Student Hunger Drive.

Beard said she picked the location because it’s high-traffic and the people there are “very generous.”

“It makes me feel good because I know that it’s important for people and the hungry families out there just for anyone to be fed,” said Beard. “It’s a good cause.”

The hunger drive wraps-up during the first full week in November.
