A recycling center in Davenport and will make recycling more convenient for the downtown community.

The Centennial Park Drop-Off Recycling Center was scheduled to open on Thursday, October 31, 2013. The center will be open 24-hours, seven days per week.

Accepted materials are corrugated cardboard, mixed paper (which includes chipboard like cereal boxes), and containers (#1 and #2 plastics, metal cans, and glass food containers).

“Centennial Park Drop-Off Recycling Center will serve a need in the downtown community for convenient recycling,” said director of Waste Commission of Scott County, Kathy Morris. “When recycling is made easier, we know that people recycle more.”

Morris said more recycling is expected to extend the life of the landfill.
