Volunteers are needed for a cleanup project in Galesburg.

A spokesperson from the City of Galesburg said volunteers are needed to help clean up the shoreline of Lake Storey on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Anyone willing to help out is asked to meet at the warming shelter near the east boat ramp off Henderson Street and Route 150 at 8 a.m.

Volunteers will be picking up trash along the shoreline until roughly noon. Each year the water level is drawn down to help grow the fish population, which in turn provides an easier way for residents to clean the debris and trash that accumulates in the area.

If you are participating in this service opportunity, you are asked to wear boots or hard soled shoes. Trash bags and refreshments will be provided on Saturday.

For questions contact the Public Works Department at 309-345-3623.
