Police say an Iowa man was pretty anxious to have an officer hear his claims of being ripped off by someone he trusted to sell drugs on his behalf.
A criminal complaint filed against 57-year-old Daniel Noehl says he called Iowa City Police Sunday, October 6, 2013 “to report he had sold some of his prescription medication to a friend who had not paid him.”
While police were on the way to talk to Noehl, the reportedly “called police three or four times to see what was taking so long.”
Police said Noehl told them he had given about 230 pills to a friend who was supposed to sell them to others and pay Noehl $1.25 per pill. He planned to use the money to buy groceries and cigarettes.
Police said Noehl told them he did not know it was illegal to sell prescription medication, “or he ‘would have sold them a long time ago when I was on drugs,'” the complaint said.
The complaint also said Noehl admitted to smoking crack cocaine four days earlier, and it alleges he showed police a used crack pipe.
Noehl was arrested and charged with a prescription drug offense and with possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges are misdemeanors.
Noehl was held in the Johnson County Jail.
