A man, who was pronounced bread dead, died of injuries sustained during an incident under investigation in Mineral, Illinois.
According to a report by the Bureau County Republican, Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson confirmed that he was told an autopsy would be performed on 20-year-old Brandon Anthony on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Thompson said he had officers attending the autopsy, according to the Bureau County Republican. Some results from the autopsy are pending and the time and cause of death will come from Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll.
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 21, when police were called to the scene where Anthony had reportedly fallen, exited, or been ejected from a moving vehicle and was unresponsive.
According to Bureau County State’s Attorney Patrick Herrmann, who was presenting the case, a witness said he saw a vehicle drive by slowly and saw what seemed to be a bag of trash come out of the vehicle, reported the Bureau County Republican. The witness then realized the supposed bag was actually a person, approached him, and saw that he was unresponsive.
According to the report, Herrmann said the two men who were arrested during the investigation, brothers Michael Donner and Roger Donner, were in the vehicle. Herrmann said they came back to the scene and Michael Donner allegedly showed a badge to a group of people gathered around the victim.
The Bureau County Republican said police found, during the investigation, a text message regarding cannabis dealings. While Anthony was in the vehicle, Michael Donner had supposedly shown him a police badge. Michael Donner reportedly said he then heard the car door open and saw Anthony halfway out of the car, and then completely out of the car.
According to the report, bond for Michael Donner was set at $25,000 and was set at $20,000 for Roger Donner. Both men have posted bail, according to the report. They both face charges of impersonating a peace officer and possession of cannabis.
