In an effort to ensure nobody misses their chance to vote, one day is designated to the cause.

Tuesday, September 24, 2013 is National Voter Registration Day. Volunteers hit the streets to offer the opportunity to register or information on registering.

According to the National Voter Registration Day website, in 2008 about 6 million people didn’t vote because they either missed a deadline or didn’t know how to register.

“In 2013 we want to make sure no one is left out,” it reads.

Residents of Iowa can download the State of Iowa Official Voter Registration Form – click here. Once the form is filled out, it can be returned to your designated county auditor’s office. You can also visit your local county auditor’s office to fill out a paper copy.

For Illinois residents, click here for the Illinois Voter Registration Application. Return the form to your County Clerk or Board of Election Commissioners at least 28 days prior to the nearest election.
