A new event in the Quad Cities is celebrating fall and Flemish.

The Fall Flemish Fest took place on Sunday, September 15th, 2013 at Stephens Park in Moline.

Flemish is the Dutch language spoken in Belgium. Today's event celebrated the Belgian culture with food and music as well as highlighted the businesses in the surrounding Olde Towne Neighborhood.

"In this area of the Quad Cities, we are the second largest Belgium settlement in the United States," says Kevin Rafferty, Committee Member. "Detroit is the largest. I think it's very important that we remember where we came from and hold on to our ties."

"Moline Centre Main Street" - a program that works to revitalize older, traditional business districts in the city - hosted the free event.
