Students at Rivermont Collegiate in Bettendorf remembered first responders at the school’s annual 9/11 commemoration ceremony.

The remembrance held Wednesday morning, September 11, 2013 included a moment of silence and the students recited the Pledge of Allegiance.  Officials from the Bettendorf fire and police departments were also there.

Rivermont Headmaster Todd Zachary said they hold the ceremony to help students remember those who help others.

“Whether it was the Port Authority, or certainly the fire and police department of New York, but also the ordinary citizens that can make a difference every day; of just helping someone that may be in need and certainly we saw that on 9/11,” Zachary said.
