The body of a 75-year-old Burlington man was found inside a trailer where a kitchen fire had previously happened.

Firefighters were called to a mobile home in the Echo Valley 2 Mobile Home Park in the 11600 block of Beaverdale Road just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

They did not see smoke or flames but did find evidence of a previous fie in the kitchen of the mobile home.

Fire Marshal Mark Crooks said they also found the body of Jerry Hensen, who lived in the trailer, inside.

"It is believed that Mr. Hensen tried to extinguish the fire himself," Crooks said.

The cause of Mr. Hensen's death remained under investigation.  Crooks said foul play was not suspected.

"It does not appear that there were any working smoke detectors in the mobile home," Crooks said.

Damage from the fire was estimated at $2,500.
