Multiple crashes, including one involving an overturned vehicle, closed westbound Interstate 80 near Walcott, Iowa.
The wreck was reported just after 8:30 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013.
Initial reports indicated one vehicle rear ended another, and a truck overturned as part of the crash.
Police said that wreck was possibly one of several that happened on westbound I-80 near Walcott.
Police said westbound lanes of I-80 were closed between mile markers 285 and 289. The Iowa Department of Transportation indicated the closure was between Exit 284 to County Road Y40 (near Walcott) and Exit 290 exit to I-280; US 6 (Davenport).
Westbound motorists used Highway 6 as an alternate route to travel west of I-280.
Westbound traffic was moving again by about 9:30 a.m., but traffic was backed up and moving slowly. All lanes reopened before 10 a.m.
