Hours before her wedding ceremony, a bride-to-be had a vital component to her wedding day celebration stolen, her $6,000 wedding dress.
Calling 911 to report the theft, Amanda told the operator that her wedding dress, which was supposed to be worn in just a few hours, had been stolen from her car outside of her apartment complex, according to a report by ABC News.
On Sunday, August 11, 2013 the 23-year-old bride was in tears on the phone when the dispatcher, 28-year-old Candice, asked her what size the dress was. It turned out Candice had a dress Amanda’s size. Being a recent bride herself, Candice offered up her dress.
“It was just an immediate reaction,” said Candice. “I’ve been a bride so I can just put myself in her place about how horrified she would be. That’s kind of the biggest part of the wedding.”
Candice got her gown and delivered it to Amanda’s fiance. The wedding ceremony went off without a hitch, according to ABC, and Amanda had a dazzling dress.
On August 15, the two bonded-brides met face-to-face.
“I want you to know you’re seriously an amazing person,” Amanda said to Candice. “Not a lot of people would have done that.”
“It feels so good she got to have a wedding dress on her wedding day,” Candice said. “I’ve been a bride and I know that it’s awesome. I made a new friend today.”
