Residents of Dixon, Iowa will now get their water from Iowa American Water.  The company announced on Friday, August 16, 2013 that they had purchased the city’s municipal water system.

The deal cost Iowa American Water $15,000, and will add 104 customers to the company’s base.

Iowa American said they are investing about $500,000 in two projects to bring the system into compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Iowa Department of Natural Resources standards.

The first project is drilling a new well that the company said will reduce water nitrate levels.  The second project will be the construction of a booster pump station which will increase water pressure.  Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of September 2013.

Starting on Monday, new customers can contact the company with any service questions at (866) 641-2108.
