Tucked away in a bluff in Clinton, Iowa, it looks like a ghost town, and in a way, it is.

The Mississippi Valley Spiritualist Association is convening its annual "summer camp" in Mt. Pleasant Park in Clinton. Mediums come together for readings and workshops every year at the camp and take appointments with people who want to try and connect with loved ones who have passed.

"We believe there is no death, there are no dead. We believe the identity of the individual is maintained after the change called death", said Dr. Holly Chase, a Davenport chiropractor who runs the camp.

"We are spirit beings who come here and have a human journey for awhile", said Chase.

The camp has been around for 131 years. This weekend, three mediums in residence will be on hand for readings, by appointment.

Readings are done inside the original hotel on the property which was built in 1892, the place clean, but run down and virtually unchanged from back in the day.

Chase says people come to camp for peace and proof, and says skeptics have become believers.
