Police said two men accused of leaving a Mt. Pleasant, Iowa treatment center without permission were captured after a police pursuit in northern Missouri.
David Mullin, 32, of Kirksville, Missouri was reportedly driving a car stolen from Henry County, Iowa when police spotted the car in Queen City, Missouri at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013.
Police said Mullin fled in the car, reaching speeds up to 90 miles per hour. He lost control of the car and crashed about eight miles east of Queen City just before 6 p.m. The car hit a utility pole before it came to rest in a roadside ditch.
KTVO reports the passenger in the car, 34-year-old Clint Loveall of Albia, Iowa, had to be cut from the wreckage. Loveall was hospitalized in critical condition in Quincy.
Mullin was treated at a hospital in Columbia, Missouri and later released. He was charged with second-degree assault and tampering with a motor vehicle and he was jailed in lieu of $35,000 cash-only bond.
Mullin and Loveall were reportedly absent without permission from the Iowa Residential Treatment Center in Mt. Pleasant.
