Police discover 50 pounds of marijuana in vehicle on I-80

Police found over 50 – pounds of marijuana in a vehicle traveling on I-80.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, a State trooper stopped a car around noon on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 for a traffic violation. The officer smelled the odor of marijuana after approaching the vehicle, and asked the driver, who was from Maryland, if he had marijuana in the vehicle. The driver admitted to possessing the drug.

Police say the trooper found more than 50 – pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.

After an investigation, the driver and two other men from Maryland were arrested. Two face charges of conspiracy to commit a felony by delivering more than 50 – pounds of marijuana, and the driver faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, failure to affix drug tax stamp, and prohibited acts.
