Lt. Gen. Tucker assumes command of First Army in Rock Island

Headquartered at the Rock Island Arsenal, Maj. Gen. Michael S. Tucker has been promoted to lieutenant general.

Lt. Gen. Tucker assumed his new command of First Army at a ceremony in the Pentagon on Friday, August 2, 2013.

To recognize Tucker’s assumption of command, an official ceremony is being planned on Rock Island Arsenal’s Memorial Field. First Army will release a date and details as they are finalized.

For over 34 years, Tucker has served in various Army command positions, most recently he was the assistant deputy chief of staff for Army Operations and Training at the Pentagon.

He has served overseas in Korea, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
