Local kids are getting the chance to be artists.

Saturday, July 13th, 2013 was Family Fun Day at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. It's one of the museum's many free events that take place throughout the year.

Today's event went along with the Figge's current exhibition called 'American Pop.'

Kids learned some of the same techniques that famous pop artists, like Andy Warhol, used when creating their works of art.

"We have classes that people can sign up for that are very specialized, but on days like today, we can experiment in new ways with art projects," says Melissa Hueting, Director of Education.

Kids even got to enjoy some treats inspired by the 50s and 60s, like Tootsie Rolls which have been manufactured since 1896, but received the famous name 'Tootsie' in 1966.
