John Deere Classic field includes 50 of PGA’s top 100

This year, a field of 156 players will compete in the John Deere Classic for a purse of $4.6 million with the winner receiving $828,000.

This year, a field of 156 players will compete in the John Deere Classic for a purse of $4.6 million with the winner receiving $828,000.

Fifty of the PGA Tour’s current top 100 players are among those committed to play at the 2013 John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois.

“This year’s John Deere Classic field is filling with players who through their on-course performance this season have proven themselves to be among the very best in the world,” said John Deere Classic tournament director Clair Peterson.

Forty golfer who played in the U.S. Open, as well as 21 players committed to this year’s British Open, are also in the field, including Bud Cauley.

Ken Duke, Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker and Davis Love III have also committed to play.

Peter Hanson of Sweden, who held the lead for 54 holes at the 2012 Masters, will also be there.

PGA Tour runner-up Chris Stroud, who lost to Duke in a sudden-death playoff, is committed to the 2013 JDC as are several other top-ranked FedEx Cup players including Jimmy Walker, Chris Kirk, Scott Stallings, Brian Gay, Charley Hoffman, David Lingmerth, Brendon de Jonge, Freddie Jacobson, John Rollins, Kevin Chappell, Kyle Stanley, Cameron Tringale and Puerto Rican Open winner Scott Brown.
