Residents are being asked to bring donations to help “fill the truck” for victims of domestic abuse.

Residents are being asked to bring donations to help “fill the truck” for victims of domestic abuse.

On Saturday June 22, 2013, items are being collected for Family Resources’ Domestic Violence Shelter at all Hy-Vee stores in the Quad Cities and in Muscatine, Iowa. Trucks, donated by Lujack’s are on site from 9 a.m. – noon.

Cheryl Goodwin, the president and CEO of Family Resources said the items donated go to help support families wanting to start anew.

“The women and children who come to our shelters often arrive at night with only the clothes they are wearing,” Goodwin said.

The most needed donations are baby and toddler items, kitchen and bath items, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, bed and bath linens and blankets, small home items, over-the-counter medicines, and more.

Nicole Cisnedurbin, Director of Violence Intervention Counseling Service for Family Resources said the shelter is always accepting donations at their locations. Their location in Moline is 1521 47th Ave. and another is in Davenport at 2800 Eastern Ave.
