Nearly a week after she was struck by a car that reportedly left the scene, a 25-year-old area woman has died.

Kimberly Landwer was found lying in the road in the 100 block of East Seventh Street at about 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013.  Landwer was airlifted to a hospital in Peoria, Illinois where she died of her injuries Friday, June 21, 2013.

Police said after the crash they arrested 19-year-old Keith Shomaker who was accused of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.   Police said Shomaker also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for unrelated charges of criminal damage to property and theft.

After Landwer’s death, police said additional charges were forthcoming in the case.

Online records show Shomaker remained held in the Lee County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.   He was appointed a public defender at his first court appearance, and was next scheduled to appear in court June 26.
