The Davenport Fire Department is the recipient of a $68,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program.

Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack said the funding will help make sure the crews receive the training and resources needed to ensure quick response to disasters in the community.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s website, the mission of the grants are to meet emergency response needs. The AFG has been offering this grant since 2001.
