Coordinators of the annual festival for music-lovers in the Quad Cities have announced the line-up for later this summer.
The 42nd Annual Bix Memorial Jazz Festival will take place in Davenport from Thursday to Sunday, August 1-4, 2013.
The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society’s Board Secretary, Leo Schubert, says it’s all about the music.
“We have some of the best bands coming from all over the United States,” said Schubert. “We’ve been able to choose some of the best bands in the Quad Cities to play.”
The four-day weekend will include classical and symphonic styles of music, Schubert said.
Patrons are invited to head to LeClaire Park to enjoy free music during the weekend. Other venues that will host performances are Mississippi Hall and Adler Theater
"This style of music is happy music," Schubert said. "You listen to this music or you play this music, you cannot be angry, mad, upset with anybody. You smile all the time it's playing."
