Future health care workers got hands-on experience during a health careers camp at St. Ambrose University.
Dozens of local seventh- and eighth-graders took part in the camp, which included putting some skills they learn at school to work.
“This is some of the stuff they've been doing in their science classes already at school, and so just to get to do a little bit more of that is really exciting for them,” said Alisa Rusch from St Ambrose University.
The camp also included a job shadow day.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a current nationwide nursing shortage and the field is expected to grow by 26% by 2020.
