Five people were hurt, including one who was ejected, when the car in which they rode crashed and overturned on Rockingham Road in Davenport, Iowa.

Police said Ronald Brinkley, 32, was driving a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on Rockingham Road at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road between Walnut and Stark streets.  The car traveled into the westbound lanes and continued off the north shoulder where it struck a utility pole and overturned.

Michael Cook, 17, was reportedly ejected as the car rolled over.

Cook, Ronald Brinkley and 16-year-old Christopher Brinkley were taken to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Two other passengers in the car, 18-year-old Cody Brinkley and 18-year-old Miles Clifton, were also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said they identified alcohol and excessive speed as preliminary factors that contributed to the crash.
