It was a day for the dogs in Moline at an event held by the K9 Kindness Rescue.

Saturday, June 8, 2013 was the Dog Dayz of Summer Beach Pawty and Dog Wash, a fundraising event where families could bring their dogs and meet some new ones.

Dogs had the opportunity to be washed, have their nails trimmed, and be microchipped. People enjoyed music, food, vendors, a bounce house, and a “doggy” swimsuit competition- prizes were award for the first three places.

The organization, K9 Kindness Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit located in Davenport, Iowa that is an all-breed shelter that works to find abandoned dogs forever homes.

The organization’s president and founder, Debbie Fraker, said over the last nine years they have placed around 800 dogs.

“We’ve taken dogs that would’ve been euthanized in shelters just because of medical or vet type needs,” said Fraker. “We can take them, do things like this to raise them money, get them vetted, and find them homes.”

Funds from Saturday’s event will help provide dogs with shots, heartworm preventative, flea and tick preventative, spay/neutering, and other veterinary care the dogs may need before being placed in a home.

If you are interested in helping a shelter dog find a home you can fill out an adoption application or a foster application online at K9 Kindness Rescue’s website.
