Should he choose to run again, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn may have some competition in the 2014 Illinois governor election.
According to WGN, On Sunday, June 2, 2013 Illinois Treasurer, Dan Rutherford announced his run for governor.
He made the official announcement at a restaurant in Chicago and said that he plans on making a three-day tour through Illinois. During the trip he will be stopping in several cities.
Rutherford served as a state representative and senator since 1993. In 2010 he was elected as treasurer.
Governor Pat Quinn has not yet announced if he plans on running again.
