Politics is literally part of Susie Carpentier’s DNA.
“My grandfather was Illinois Secretary of State. My father was a state senator. This is something I was raised with. 62 years of doing this. It’s in my blood. I had an old senator tell me at one time, the only cure for this is formaldyhyde”, Carpentier said.
But after seven years as Rock Island County Chairwoman in a county filled with Democrats, Carpentier has passed the torch.
On Saturday, precinct captains will pick a new leader, either Betsey Morthland of Cordova or Mike Steffen of Moline.
Carpentier says she plans to help State Treasurer Dan Rutherford campaign for Governor.
