Riverboat Development Authority treasurer Don Decker told us Tuesday he still opposes Davenport's plan to build a new casino at the I-80 and I-280 interchange.

As News Eight's Angie Sharp reported Tuesday, the city has now come up with a private ownership proposal with Davenport Casino Group. The group is headed by well known Quad City developer Rodney Blackwell of Financial District Properties.

The RDA is the group tasked with giving the new project a gaming license, and they decided to look for private developers for the project in March. The RDA has not commented on camera on this new casino proposal.

The RDA is still looking at other casino proposals at this time. One of them is from Peninsula Pacific out of California to build a casino on I-80 too.

The next RDA meeting is set for May 20th, but Board President Mary Ellen Chamberlin told us Tuesday she does not expect her board to vote on a proposal then. Their next meeting will be sometime in late June. That's the earliest the RDA could vote on one of the proposals.
