A Roseville, Illinois man died of injuries suffered when they lost control of a vehicle while trying to pass another car in Warren County, Illinois.

The crash was reported just before 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 on Business Route U.S. 67 just east of U.S. 67 in Roseville Township.

Police said a light blue 2002 Volkswagen Passat, driven by 27-year-old Daniel Aupperle, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver attempted to pass another westbound car.

An extended cab pickup truck was in the oncoming lane.

Police said Aupperle veered his car back into the westbound lane but lost control.  He over-corrected to the left, causing the Passat to spin and travel into the eastbound lane where it collided with the pickup truck.

Aupperle was killed in the crash.

The pickup truck driver was taken to an area hospital where he was recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
