Dirt dumped for Monster Truck Jam

To prepare for a monster show, crews dumped 1,000 yards of dirt in the iWireless center.

To prepare for a monster show, crews dumped 1,000 yards of dirt in the Moline, Illinois i wireless Center.

The Monster Truck Jam is coming April 27 and 28, and to prepare the race track, workers from Feld Motor Sports out of Aurora, Illinois filled the arena with enough dirt to cover two football fields about eight inches deep, according to Feld employee, Steve Carmack.

“I travel the world and build racetracks, I’m like a little kid with a sandbox,” said Carmack. “I’ve got a big sandbox and big toys.”

Carmack said it’s important to get the right moisture content in the dirt to keep it on the ground and off the spectators' seats.

The event will feature different trucks including a Monster Mutt Dalmatian truck with a tail that wags. Also, 11-time Monster Truck world champion Tom Meents will be driving.

There will be a wheelie contest, a race, and a freestyle competition where drivers can do whatever they want- from hitting obstacles on the track to jumping their trucks.

There will also be a Party in the Pits where fans can come check out the trucks and get their pictures taken with drivers.
