Retaining wall collapses at John Deere House

The retaining wall along the John Deere House property collapsed as heavy rain accompanied a series of spring storms in the Quad Cities area.

The retaining wall along the John Deere House property collapsed as heavy rain accompanied a series of spring storms in the Quad Cities area.

Heavy rain, which also caused flooding and road closures in the area, appears to have contributed to the wall’s collapse on April 18, 2013.

Some residents have complained that repairs appeared long overdue for the retaining wall along the property at 11th Avenue and 12th Street in Moline, Illinois.

Previous estimates put repair costs for the 10-foot-high wall at more than a quarter-million dollars.
