The rules are changing for Iowa teenagers learning to drive.
The Iowa State House voted on a bill on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 requiring minors to have their permit for a year, as opposed to the current duration of six months.
In addition to the extra time before a driver gets their license, the bill would limit minors to having only one unrelated minor in the car at a time.
Other conditions with drivers permits remain. Minors are still required to have 20 hours of practice driving with an adult at least 25-years-old before receiving a license.
