Crews close part of River Drive for flood protection

Part of River Drive in Davenport will be closed Thursday after morning rush hour.

The City of Davenport will continue implementing flood protection on Thursday, April 18, closing River Drive from Brady Street to Third Street.

Beginning at 9 a.m. crews will begin building a temporary flood barrier along River Drive. After rush hour crews will implement a detour directing traffic away from River Drive.

The detour route is as follows:

Westbound– On River Drive continue to 4^th Street, routes west on 4^th Street to Harrison Street, then south on Harrison Street and back to River Drive west.

Westbound Trucks– On River Drive trucks will continue onto 4^th Street, travel west on 4^th Street to Iowa Street, route north on Iowa Street to 5^th Street, travel west on 5^th Street to Western Ave., then go south on Western Ave. and back to River Drive.

Eastbound– River Drive continues onto Brady Street, traffic goes north on Brady Street to 3^rd Street, then routes east on 3^rd Street back to River Drive east.

Businesses along River Drive will still be accessible.
