The Davenport Community School District School Board voted on Monday, April 8th, 2013 to delay their vote on the 2013-14 budget to Friday, April 12th, 2013 to allow the Iowa Legislature time to decide on the allowable growth rather, which determines how much money each school district receives from the state every year.

"The state is holding school funding hostage," said Board Director Patt Zamora on Monday night.

The DCSD has budget recommendations based on 0%-3% allowable growth. The biggest chunks include an early retirement incentive ($980,000), an insurance holiday ($2,000,000-#3,394,000), and a 5% across the board cut in every department ($120,000).
