Rescuers saved a 10-year-old boy but two of his relatives were missing after their boat capsized on the Mississippi River near Hartford, Illinois.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 in a section of the river that rescuers called “treacherous” because of a curve in the river and the nearby confluence with the Missouri River.

Rescue workers said waves on the river were as high as five feet and that windy conditions may have contributed to the boat overturning.

KTVI reports a towboat crew used a life ring to save the boy, who was hospitalized.  The search continued for two male relatives of the child, who had not yet been found.
