Trout Fishing Season Begins in Illinois

Trout has been stocked and fishing season has officially begun.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced Saturday, April 6 marks the first day of Trout Fishing Season in Illinois.

Each spring the IDNR stocks more than 60,000 rainbow trout at 42 locations throughout the state.

Illinois fishing licenses and inland trout stamps are available at DNR Direct license and permit locations like bait shops, sporting goods stores, and other retail outlets. Click here to find locations.

Fishing licenses and trout stamps can be purchased at the IDNR website or by calling 1-888-673-7648.

“Here in Illinois, we are committed to providing ways for families and children to get outdoors and enjoy nature,” said IDNR Director Marc Miller. “The spring trout season is a great opportunity to do just that. “
