To recognize the four-year anniversary of the same-sex marriage ruling in Iowa, Iowa State University invited a notable guest to speak at the school.
Zach Wahls, whose speech to the Iowa Legislature supporting same-sex marriage has been viewed on YouTube over 17 million times, visited ISU on Tuesday, April 2.
Wahls has become one of the most sought-after Iowan speakers since the day he addressed the legislature with his thoughts.
“The concern for me is not necessarily whether or not I’m able to talk to the Bob Vander Plaats’ of the world,” said Wahls. “The concern for me is whether or not I’m able to talk to the folks who are on the fence and who are trying to wrestle with this very important question.”
