Pay It Forward: Quad City Lady With A Wardrobe Mission

From boots, mittens and coats a Moline wardrobe ministry is helping to clothe people in need.

Good deeds can be far reaching.

Visit the Riverside United Methodist Wardrobe Clothing Ministry and you will find volunteers giving their time to sort, organize and give away clothing to anyone in need.

Its all possible thanks to one volunteer, setting the standard.

Every Saturday you will find Chris McMillan here at the wardrobe clothing ministry.

"I started it about three years ago."

What started in a garage has grown into this.

Joann Hackerson says, "People who can not afford clothing for their children can get it for free, its a wonderful organization and its amazing how many people come in who really need help."

That help comes from volunteers like McMillan and Hackerson, who says, "Kris is a very hard worker."

So she wants to recognize her friend for all she does to help others.

But McMillan says giving is just what she does.  "This is a surprise I enjoy what I do so I'm not looking for recognition but its nice to know what I'm doing is getting recognized and helping people."

Her efforts at the wardrobe are far reaching.

"Anybody who has a need for clothing we work with the red cross, world relief, we are kind of the go to people to go to when you need clothes," McMillan said.

And McMillan says she is not done reaching out "always think about which way we can go and how much further something needs to be done."

More good things to come from a volunteer looking to amplify her efforts.
